What Happens in a Pilates Class?

Our sessions run for 55 minutes. We cap our group pilates classes at eight participants. This gives our instructors room to correct your form and adapt movements to your body.

Most of our group classes use the Merrithew Reformer. This is a spring-resistance apparatus developed from Joseph Pilates’ original design. The Reformer’s adjustable resistance supports you through each movement. It is accessible for beginners while still challenging for experienced movers.

You will move through flowing sequences with smooth transitions and precise, controlled exercises. Some classes also use the Tower and Chair, each with its own training focus.

We tailor your workout to your needs every session. Our instructors consider your strengths, limitations and any injuries throughout. We design sessions to challenge and transform your body safely.

Who Are Pilates Classes For?

Pilates is joint-friendly and low-impact. It suits a wide range of fitness levels. That includes people new to exercise, those returning after injury and those who are pre- or post-natal.

We offer both group sessions and private one-on-one sessions. We tailor private sessions to your body, goals and any injuries or conditions. These work well if you are returning after surgery or managing a specific condition.

In private sessions, our instructors may combine the Reformer, Tower, Chair and mat work. The combination depends on your goals and what your body needs. Private sessions also give you focused time with an instructor before joining a group.

Getting Started: The Right Class for You

For beginners, Flex and Sculpt is our recommended entry point. It’s a Reformer class focused on full-body strength, mobility and core awareness. You need no prior experience.

From there, you can build into Stretch and Flow for flexibility work. Strengthen and Lengthen on the Tower focuses on stability and posture. Fusion Flow combines the Reformer and Chair for a more athletic challenge. Our instructors guide you on when to progress.

What to Bring to Your First Session

We require gripper socks for all equipment classes, which you can buy at the studio.

Arrive no more than ten minutes before your session. The studio is a no street shoe zone, so remove your shoes at the entry area. We provide a private changing cubicle for every guest.

Comfortable, fitted clothing works best. Loose layers can catch on the Reformer’s moving carriage. Avoid wearing jewellery on your wrists or ankles, as it can snag on the equipment.
